Job Type : Full-time

Calian Health is currently seeking Primary Care Paramedics to work on assignment in Indigenous communities in Northern Alberta on a casual contract position. Clinic settings can range from very small to large – have to be prepared to work in a variety of settings. Typically 2 week assignments.

Position Overview

The Paramedic scope of work is directed toward the prevention of disease and the promotion and maintenance of health. The Paramedic may also be involved in the delivery of primary care and emergency services of a mental health, medical, obstetrical or trauma related nature.The Paramedic scope of work is based on operational requirements, and may also be required to assist with administrative duties associated with the daily operations at the Location of Work; Perform Work as per the scope of practice of the applicable provincial regulatory body; Have the willingness and ability to travel in small aircraft, off road vehicles, snowmobiles, and other similar modes of transportation, including small watercraft, in varied weather conditions, to communities in Remote, Semi-Isolated and Isolated areas;

Qualifications

  • Certification/License to practice as an Primary Care Paramedic in Alberta
  • Valid and current CPR certification required.
  • Valid and current BLS, ITLS
  • Minimum one year paramedic experience or 1500 hours of verified experience is required.
  • Valid Driver's License is required.
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) – 2015 Version.
  • FNIHB, Manitoba immunization certification
  • You must also have the ability to work under stressful situations and exercise sound judgement in all emergency care situations.
  • Ability to identify patient treatment needs through assessment and provide appropriate care are key for this role.
  • Excellent level of written and verbal communication.
  • Valid PSPC Reliability Clearance is required for this role.
